The story begins in the late 1920's, making Clarke's Tyres one of the oldest businesses in Larne. Three Clarke brothers - Andy, Willie and Jimmy become involved, supplying everything from paraffin to bicycle repairs.
In 1977, a cousin of the brothers, Andy Clarke took over Clarke's Tyres. His son John and grandson Andrew now manage the business. A motorfactoring service (trading as Larne Motorfax) was added, supplying car parts to both trade and public in the wider Larne area.
Clarke's Tyres has been built on growing a loyal base of returning customers, and is based on three core values - honesty, pricing and service.
Throughout the 1940's and 50's the brothers ran a taxi service, and fuel was sold until the 1980's.
2015 saw an extension to the premises, investment in new equipment and the employment of additional staff. Clarke's Tyres plays a full part in the Larne community with a wide range of sponsorship and donations to local charities.
''Honesty is absolutely key for long term growth. The motor industry does not always have a good name, and a reputation for trustworthiness goes a long way to making you stand out. Advising someone that a new part is not required, or that they only need two new tyres might not make quick profits, but it does help secure long-term loyalty.
With 80 years and counting, something must be right? Why not call in today?
